Tea plantations:ShizuokaShizuoka Prefecture is Japan's largest tea producing region. Its share is roughly 45% of the national crop. The conditions for growing tea are perfect: warm summer, cold winter, big difference in day and night temperature, mountains, rivers, and soil with the right acidity. The most popular tea from Shizuoka is fukamushi-sencha, a deep-steamed green tea with a wonderful aroma and sweet taste. The multi-prize winning Otsuka tea gardens are located in the town Kakegawa. ![]() ![]() |
